Does your Health Insurance Go the Extra Mile When you Travel
Author: Will
International travel can be an exciting adventure, provided you are aware of the need for travel health insurance. You need to be aware that travel can, and does throw up any number of unpredictable situations.
Probably the most serious risk is the chance of an accident or illness occurring while you are overseas. Requiring emergency medical care, while in another country can be not only inconvenient but extremely problematic as well, if you do not have the right cover.
First of all, there is an unfamiliarity associated with being in a foreign country, with a completely different culture and a different medical system, which can intensify the already problematic issue of being in an accident or requiring any other kind of emergency medical help.
Trying to communicate with people in a different language is enough of an effort, without factoring in the currency conversions, international claims administration of the country of travel, and the time difference. If this is to be further complicated by a lack of insurance cover, one might find oneself totally lost, and “at sea”.
Whether you are residing in or visiting the US, your travel may throw up challenges for your existing healthcare cover. Both brief trips and extended vacations and relocation expose you to health risks not covered by your existing, domestic medical insurance.
Sometimes, tourists and immigrants, even regular business travelers, overlook the need for travel health insurance, simply assuming that their medical plan provides enough coverage. However, as a rule, never leave home without extra, supplementary travel health insurance.
Ask the travel agent who does your bookings, the financial institution you deal with regularly, or your doctor for references and suggestions. Supplemental travel health insurance is a must.
It is not wise to rely on your domestic health plan to cover sicknesses or injuries while you are in the US. In the worst case scenario, the policy might be useless in the US, in the best; it may only cover a small portion of the expenses.
Some international credit card companies now make it a part of their services to offer travel health insurance to their cardholders. Check with your card company; don’t just assume that coverage is included.
The card alone may not provide adequate health coverage. Some of these companies will charge a fee for travel insurance coverage; others may require you to pay for your travel using that particular credit card. In any case, make sure you know the conditions, requirements, and limitations of the provided cover before you leave for the US.
Available travel health insurance policies include short and long-term plans, as well as individual & group plans for international travelers, international students to the US, traveling business executives and even foreign missionaries.
Always carry the proof of insurance cover with you, and leave a copy with someone at home, in case of emergencies. Tell your travel agent, or a friend or family member, as well as your traveling companion how to get in touch with your insurer, in case you are incapacitated.
Anyone traveling outside their country of citizenship needs to be adequately covered by ample travel health insurance, regardless of where you are traveling to, and this is especially true of foreign nationals who are traveling to the USA.
From the basic set of vaccinations to emergency medical care, whatever the situation is, a good travel health insurance policy can give you complete peace of mind, on your trip to the US.

India Holidays at Chenab Valley
India Holidays at Chenab Valley
Author: Jhonanant
The River Chenab originates in the Kulu and Kangra districts of the Himachal Pardesh province of India. The two chief streams of the Chenab - the Chandra and the Bhaga - rise on opposite sides of Baralcha pass at an elevation of about 16,000 feet. These join at Tandi in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, nearly 9,090 feet above mean sea level. Fed by innumerable tributaries on the long
journey from its headwaters, the river gains immense power and momentum on entering the Jammu andKashmir region above Kishtwar.
From Kishtwar to Thathri (about 50 km) the Chenab runs through class V and VI gorges. The combined streams, traversing about 135 miles, take a sharp turn along Pir Panjal near Kishtwar. The Chenab then flows along the northern base of the Pir Panjal range before entering the Doda area of Jammu and Kashmir. It cuts across this range through a spectacular gorge and then flows along its southern base, before flowing southwards and entering the plains. After traversing about 400 miles of mountainous regions and flowing at nearly 39 feet per mile, the Chenab opens out into the plains near Akhnur. It enters Pakistan through the Sialkot district, near Diawara Village.

Taste an Empanada With Pork Filling
Taste an Empanada With Pork Filling
Author: Stephen Morgan
I have written several articles on the empanada. Basically these articles all said the same thing about how it is really a meal in itself and you can add a multitude of filling. Well today the filling we are going to look at is a fairly basic pork recipe that actually is delicious.
So the ingredients we would need would be as follows:
20 g of fresh yeast or 1 teaspoon of easy blend dried (active dry) yeast.
350 g of strong white flour.
125 g of corn meal,, “masa harina” or finely ground “polenta”.
½ tbsp salt
Generous 1/3 cup of white wine.
50 g of lard or vegetable fat.
8 tablespoons of olive oil
1 medium egg, lightly beaten
Water to bind the dough
1 medium egg, lightly beaten to seal and glaze the Empanada.
Again the name of the game here is preparation. Take the yeast with about three tablespoons of hand-hot water and mix it all together to a paste. Take the flour and corn meal and pour into a large bowl and add the salt, the wine, the lard the olive oil, the egg and the yeast paste and add enough water to make it all come together into a soft but not too sticky dough.
Still this mixture well and then start to pull it together with your hands. If there is any dried flower left in the bowl and add a touch more to bring it all together. The thing to remember here is if the dough is too dry it would be too difficult to roll out thinly later on.
Take the dough and knead it together for a couple of minutes until it is smooth and well mixed. Then take the dough put it back into a bowl and cover with cling film or plastic wrap. The important bit here is that you should let the dough rise for at least an hour or until it has doubled in size.
Decide upon what filling you want to include within the empanada and bring everything together. Take out half of your dough and roll it out until it's about approximately 5 mm thick. Oil your baking sheet and lay this dough on top of it.
Now we turn on attention to getting the filling and in this particular case looking to take a fairly basic pork filling. For our purposes here we are going to need the following ingredients:
150 ml of olive oil
450 g pork loin cuts into fine strips
4 onions finely sliced
1 Red Pepper
1 Green Pepper
2 Garlic cloves – crushed
1 tbsp sweet smoked paprika
½ tsp dried oregano
2 tbsp tomato puree (in paste form)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper.
As with all these recipes thing you do is heat your olive oil and take this and add your pork strips. Now be sensible here and don’t add them all at once and allow them to brown slightly and then when ready take them and remove them from the pan.
In much the same way that you cook the pork strips cook the onion in the same way; that is to say gently until the onion is itself almost transparent or has a slight golden touch to it.
Next up is to add the peppers to the onion and continue cooking until these too are also soft. Re introduce the pork strips and take the paprika and the garlic and add these to the mixture and cook for a while so that the ingredients start to blend in with each other and then add the oregano and the tomato purée.
Finally season with salt and pepper to taste.
Next take your filling and spread the filling evenly leaving about a 2 cm margin around the age of the dough. Brush the edge of the dough with a little beaten egg.
Take the rest of you at the road at approximately the same size as your original piece and lay this on top of your filling. Take the top and the bottom pieces of dough and start to pinch the edges together and then twist the dough over to make a rope like texture around the edge.
Take the remainder of your beaten egg and brush this all over the empanada and then take a fork and pierce the top of the empanada all over with little holes.
Leave the empanada to rest for about 10 minutes and then leak this in a halt often for between 20 to 30 minutes or depending on your oven the crust is really crisp and golden.
An Introduction to Places to Stay in Northern Spain and Galicia
An Introduction to Places to Stay in Northern Spain and Galicia
Author: Scott James
All forms of tourist accommodation can be found in Galicia and Northern Spain. Accommodation can be found that will fit all forms of budgets and even the most particular tourists will find something to suit their particular needs.
If it is luxury that you are after then the best advice should be to head straight for the exclusive hotels and “Paradors” but to be honest even the basic family “casas rurales” are extremely good value for money. The region is dotted with mountain refuges with stunning views not to mention that in the coastal areas you can find quite a few campsites.
The standard of accommodation in the area is extremely high as you would expect from Galicia and Northern Spain. The categorisation for the hotels is awarded on a star system and these are allocated by the regional tourist authorities. If you need actual visible proof of the standard of your hotel you can find confirmation indicated by a small blue plaque near the hotel front door.
You can usually find en-suite bathrooms or at least a shower in each Hotel bedroom. Do not expect to find en-suite facilities in the smaller Hostels and “Pensiones” but you might be surprised in certain cases.
Don't equate the number of stars on the outside door of the hotel to necessarily match the standards of the accommodation that is on offer and this is because in Spain the stars are allocated on the facilities on offer not necessarily the quality of the service. The more exclusive hotels offer all kinds of extra facilities, such as air conditioning, on-site parking, internet-access and rooms with televisions as well as facilities for the disabled.
The cost of accommodation as in most cases varies from season to season therefore it is wise to plan in advance. A popular option available in all of the autonomous regions of northern Spain are hostels (hostales) and guest houses (pensiones) which are cheaper than hotels. These are usually establishments that can only offer a few beds and by and large are family-run.
There are in excess of 1,500 hotels with a total of 92,000 beds registered in the territory of “Green Spain” -- the Atlantic regions of Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria and the Basque country.
Grupo Sol-Melia and NH are the biggest chain of hotels in the area. Their facilities are of a high standard and include internet-access amongst other features. Latterly there have been a growing number of smaller privately run hotels that offer memorable relaxing accommodation available.
In Spain they have dotted throughout the country a series of state run hotels that are known as Paradors. These are classified from between three to five stars. The first Parador opened in 1928 and there is now quite a comprehensive network throughout the country. The theory behind them was that they should never be more than a day's drive from one to another. In Santiago de Compostela you can find possibly the best known Parador in the area and this is the Parador de los Reyes Catolicos. Other Paradors can be found in Castles, Monasteries and various other monuments’. You will quite often find that there are a growing number of purpose built Paradors and these can quite often be found in either towns of historic interest or areas of spectacular scenery.
The local Parador might not be best hotel in town but it will usually deliver a predictably consistent standard of comfort. The standard from each Parador to Parador very rarely varies with comfortable spacious bedrooms to be found throughout. Some also offer fine regional cuisine. It is usually wise to plan ahead and book your accommodation if you wish to use the network of Paradors. Bookings can be made either using the Central de Reservas which is a centrally based service based in Madrid or you can contact each Parador direct. Rates can be expensive it is worth looking for special deals especially in the high season but to be brutally honest this has to be the same anywhere you go.
Try a Glorious Empanada With a Tuna Filling
Try a Glorious Empanada With a Tuna Filling
Author: Stephen Morgan
Today we are going to take a look at an Empanada, a Galician Flat Pie but in this case we are going to add a Tuna filling to it.
The thing about an empanada is that once you have got the concept just right and you've managed to get the texture and the flour correct for the crust then you can add almost anything to it that you like. It really is one of the most versatile things going and is as it was originally designed, a meal in itself.

150 ml of olive oil
4 onions finely sliced
1 red pepper or finely sliced
1 green pepper or finely sliced
1 teaspoon sweet um smoked paprika
170 g of canned tuna in olive oil
Salt
3 hot boiled eggs (optionally sliced or diced)
Take the olive oil and heat it in a frying pan and then add the onions and fry until the onions are nice, soft and golden looking - almost transparent in fact.
Next add the peppers and gently fry, in fact the longer and more gently you fry these ingredients the better as you'll end up with a much sweeter and more delicious result.
Take this mixture sprinkle the paprika on top and stir in the tuna and cook for a further two minutes. At the end of this remember season to taste if you think you need to. At the end of this if you are going to use the eggs and you don’t have to but if you are then slice them or dice them and lay them gently on top of the tuna filling that you've already put into the empanada and then follow the instructions below.

One aspect kids love is the castle recreated with monsters and even a dungeon! Some of the other fun aspects include original documents and even pictures from American patriots, European royalty, war, presidents, and more. There are even ancient artifacts on display.
This is perhaps America's most interesting museum not to mention the most exciting. There are 10 dinosaurs on display that were alive once upon a time as well as two royal mummies from Egypt. Other amazng displays include exhibits from many of the US wars including the Revolutionary War, Civil War, both World Wars, Vietnam, Korea, and more. There are even exhibits on Hollywood Stars, the Wild West, musician and sports stars. Tuscany Means Good Wine, Excellent Food, Hisotry and Charme
Tuscany Means Good Wine, Excellent Food, Hisotry and Charme
Author: Paola Lo Russo
Tuscany has become, in recent years, one of the most popular destinations for a nice relaxing holiday. With its beautiful countryside, world-wide famous wine and cuisine and handicraft tradition, it has become the ultimate place to visit for the foreign traveller. It’s an ideal destination for those who want to tour around since it offers the possibility of sightseeing in the main cities and relax in the countryside. If you have more time to spend in Tuscany, you could also travel to some of the nicest beaches of the Italian sea located just off the Tuscany coast. Tuscany is also easy to reach since the main low cost airline do operate flights in the main airports: Florence and Pisa.
The main visited city is Florence, rich of culture and beauty. Florence is such a piece of artwork that it’s not even necessary to enter a museum, your senses will be satisfied by just walking around. The city centre is petite, therefore, if you are lodging within the area, you will be able to enjoy walking around. Florence is very popular among tourists so try to avoid summer if you don’t want to spend your time queuing outside museums and churches. If you travel in low season, you will also find the best accommodations at the lowest prices. October, for example, is a good time to visit Florence: still pleasant weather and not too crowded. Bed and breakfast as well as guest houses will be the best option to live the city fully. Family owned places, located in quiet streets are a good way to get the best tips on where to go eat and shop.
The Tuscan countryside is really worth visiting, places such as the Chianti region, Siena, Cortona and S. Gimignano just to mention a few, are a necessary stop to really feel the atmosphere of a magic place. There are a few luxury resorts that would really leave a sign but if you are a traveller on a budget these places are accessible to you as well. More modest accommodations, B&Bs or apartments do give the possibility to all travellers to visit these magnificent places.
As I mentioned before, if you have a bit more time to spend in the area, some of the islands off the Tuscan coast will definitely be worth visiting. Elba island is the biggest one of all, the Giglio island is quite small. You should rent a rubber dinghy or join to one of those guided full-day tours to really appreciate those beaches and the part of the coast which is not reachable by foot.
Tuscany is a region that can satisfy the widest range of travellers from the youngest who are in search of crowded city life and budget accommodations, to the more mature traveller who appreciates the peace and quite of the rural countryside and that has a bit more money to spend towards a more comfortable and charming hotel or country house.
Gates to the Fjords are in Bergen
Gates to the Fjords are in Bergen
Author: Tatyana Kogut
Bergen, the second largest city in Norway, is often called “gates to the fjords” and “the city amongst seven mountains”. It looks like an impressive amphitheatre surrounded with mountains and water. Bergen will impress you with its provincial atmosphere and charm. Local citizens are proud of the city’s shipping, industrial and cultural traditions and are delighted to discuss all this with tourists. Traditions, initiative and energy make Bergen one of the country’s largest cultural centers.
Founded in 1070 by king Olav Kyrre, the city had a strategic location (it was standing on a shipping route) and for a long time was an important commercial and industrial center. Perhaps its the only Scandinavian city which followed classic European traditions. Thanks to trade relations with the north, grain import and fish export, the city grew rapidly. However, Bergen also lived through many misfortunes, including several fires. Nowadays the city occupies a 465 sq.m. territory and has a population of about 230 thousand citizens.
Bergen is a university city, there are several colleges found here. The city is filled with the spirit of originality, however, one can also feel an aroma of internationality that imbues its streets. Its old districts are a true history and its museums and galleries store articles of rich historical heritage. One of the city’s landmarks is Bryggen, famous for its wonderful historical buildings. The district is included in the World Heritage List. Old wooden houses were built after the fire in 1702. You might like Bergen’s Hanseatic Museum, located next to the fish market. The museum provides visitors with information on how Hanseatic merchants lived and worked. Another landmark is St. Mary's Church – the oldest Roman church in Bryggen (built in 1130).
Bergen fish market is a symbolic place. Farmers and fishermen come here to sell their products. Fish is kept in special containers, that is why dishes served at Bergen’s houses are always fresh. Wonderful Bergen Aquarium, Rasmus Meyer collection – these are just a few examples of numerous attractions one can visit in Bergen.
One thing you should definitely see is the home of famous Norwegian composer, Edvard Grieg on Trollhaugen (the Troll Hill). Trollhaugen is located in a beautiful spot on the fjord shore 10 km from Bergen. A cosy house will immerse you into creative atmosphere and, looking at this slightly austere landscape, you will understand what the composer felt when setting off for his daily promenade.
As for Bergen Aquarium, it contains one of the best European collections of marine fauna. There are 60 aquariums here, inhabited by seals and penguins. Several times a day they rejoice children with their performances.
As you can understand, Bergen is also renowned for its cuisine. Local restaurants can fit any taste and purse. You have a choice of exotic and traditional dishes. Finding a place to enjoy good meals is really easy.
Another thing that the city is famous for is its annual music festival, Nattjazz and Bergenfest. It is no wonder why in 2000 the city was included in the list of the most culturally developed cities in Europe.
Electrifying! London's Musicals
Electrifying! London's Musicals
Author: Elisha Burberry
Short weekends away always seem like such a good idea – to leave behind habits and habitats, see something new; perhaps listen to something different. But without an aim, weekends away can sometimes fall a bit flat, a case of traipsing around a large city, sporadically darting into shops and recognising monuments. This might be fine if you are happy to go with the flow, but if you prefer being busy and ‘doing’ something then theatre breaks can be a great option.
Although you could always fly to Europe, why bother? There is plenty of talent and tinsel much closer to home in London, plus you’ll be reducing your carbon footprint, which is one less thing to feel guilty about. A cosmopolitan capital full of verve and energy, London has something for everyone with a fantastic mixture of the historic and modern, high and low culture, exclusive restaurants and ‘greasy spoons’; its appeal will never fade although your energy might.
Famously, London also boasts a wealth of theatres, most of which are clustered in the West End - a place in which life seems to become a little rosy and everything turns out well in the end; or at least if not, you can get caught in emotive moments and feel a slightly better person. After a hard week in the office it is refreshing to inhale a little of this magic – buying into moments where life is in tune or exalted, despite real-life appearances to the contrary. Plays abound on the West End, from classics by Beckett and Mike Leigh, to intriguing performances such as Absurdia, a celebration of British Absurdist theatre.
But for luxurious, light-hearted entertainment during a London theatre break most people turn to musicals. These can be anything from the heart-wrenching tragedy of Les Misérables to the rollerblading wonder that is Starlight Express. But fans of rock and roll, doo-wap and men and women in tight leather will only be interested in one option – Grease. Taking the world by storm in the 1970s, this musical has never ceased to impress, transferring with consummate ease to the silver screen. Featuring a handsome John Travolta and an impossibly skinny Olivia Newton-John, the film went on to be nominated for an Oscar.
Most people will have a small space in their heart reserved for Grease, no matter what age they are, or indeed what gender. It is one of those family-friendly films that transcend generations; equally the musical is suitable for all ages. The ease and liveliness of Rydell High is infectious, the late 1950s costumes desirably retro, and the songs so catchy that you’ll be singing in your seats.

How to Learn French - the Quick and Painless Way!
How to Learn French - the Quick and Painless Way!
Author: Timothy Croy
Did you take a foreign language class in high school? I did too. And did you think, in your teenage ignorance, that this class fully prepared you for whatever foreign language challenges may come your way? So did I! And like me, I’m sure you were proved grievously wrong - maybe even embarrassingly.
I was, as they say, at the head of my French class. I could conjugate with lightning speed and translate vocabulary sheets better than any upperclassman. The summer after my sophomore year I signed up for a trip to France with a school group. I was eager to prove my intelligence and show off my ease with the French language. But when I arrived in France the only thing I proved was that I had a super-inflated ego.
I could not understand any of the locals. And worse, they could not understand me! It took me much too long to form a sentence in my head. And when I tried to speak, I just stumbled over my words. In the end, my French teacher ended up handling all the communication needs and I sulked back to the United States vowing to never attempt French again.
Years later I decided to tackle my “fear of French”. I was determined to learn the language as quickly as possible and prove to myself that I had the ability and intelligence.
I wanted to learn French in order to attain a goal. Why do you want to learn French? Perhaps you will soon be visiting a French speaking country. (If this is the case, I am certainly jealous.) Or maybe you have a friend or relative that speaks French. Some of us would like to increase our earning potential at work or make ourselves marketable in other industries. Learning a foreign language can also boost your intellectual performance and help you become a more well rounded individual. Or perhaps, like me, you choose to learn French simply for personal enrichment.
There are several ways to learn a language. Among them are immersion, classes, private tutors, books, and many other possibilities. Language immersion is unrealistic. Who has the ingenuity to surround themselves with French speaking individuals for an extended period of time? Classes and private tutors are expensive and force you to work around someone else’s schedule. And there aren’t very many of us who have the time to scour books at the library and self-teach ourselves the French language in a usable capacity.
I turned my search to computer programs and found this to be the most effective route. Computer programs are inexpensive and time efficient. You can work on lessons in your own home and at your own convenience. It’s also easy to do as much or little as you like at one sitting. And if you need a snack - you can just get up and get one! (Provided the cookie jar is full.) Most importantly computer programs are fun. Many of them help you learn through games and other devices.
Learning French sounds difficult and intimidating. But it doesn’t have to be. Learn how I was able to speak and understand French in just a few short months!

What Travel Insurance Company Would be the Best for You?

Whenever you plan to travel abroad, travel insurance, from one of the reputed travel insurance companies, needs to be considered for the trip. Traveling anywhere outside your country of citizenship is not without risks. An easy way to offset some of this risk is through travel insurance.
Travel insurance may include an accidental death and dismemberment policy, a policy for repatriation of the remains, or medical emergency and emergency medical evacuation while you are on a trip outside the United States.
Depending on where you are going for your trip, and why, additional coverage like foreign commercial liability, foreign automobile liability or foreign workers compensation and sickness policies might become necessary.
Make sure that you check with your doctor or contact your insurance professional in order to discuss the details of your trip, and figure out your insurance needs.
Travel insurance from most travel insurance companies can be arranged a long time, even months, before the actual trip, and consists of a range of insurance coverage services safeguarding you throughout your trip, before, during, and after. In truth, accidents, emergencies, and unforeseen events can happen anywhere, and to anyone. Travel insurance companies, and their policies give you the peace of mind of having protected your investment and your health, as well as your belongings. It
> Protects your investment if you have to cancel
> Provides emergency medical referral and assistance
> Reimburses unexpected expenses due to emergencies
> Protects you during the medical emergency
> Provides medical assistance abroad
> Provides emergency evacuation if necessary
The AAA Insurance Company, for example, provides insurance for the basic travel needs, along with many other services. While many other companies like Travel Guard, have plans that provide Primary Emergency Medical coverage, and Trip Interruption plans that refund the a large part of the cost of a one-way ticket or the non-refundable trip cost.
Travel Guard guarantees payment to the relevant medical facility and makes your admission easy, and also continues to cover your medical expenses for as long as one year after you return home.
If you have to seek medical treatment while you are on your trip, companies like Travelex will cover Emergency Medical & Emergency Medical Evacuation / Repatriation. Advance payment is generally made to the Hospital if it is needed to secure admission.
In addition, some policies may cover the cost of delayed flights and lost luggage, and evacuating the person to the nearest adequate medical facility, or a hospital of choice, if necessary.
The Emergency Medical coverage usually ends, however, as soon as you reach your home, especially if you have been returned under the Emergency Medical Transportation/Evacuation coverage
The plans from travel insurance companies like Travel Safe cover the losses incurred due to family members not scheduled to travel with you, up to a maximum of six people per cancellation / interruption claim due to an accident or sickness of just one person in the party.
Several insurance companies offer stand-alone medical evacuation insurance. The costs range from $69 to $109 a trip at Travel Guard to Access America’s annual policies beginning at $190 per person.
Travel insurance companies like Medjet Assist specialize in medical evacuations and offer a range of membership options. These may vary from seven-day coverage, at $85 a person, to a year’s coverage at $225 a person. Most also have slightly cheaper package options for families.
Travel insurance companies, like Travel Guard, may also cover some pre-existing conditions as long as the policy is bought within 15 days of the trip booking.
